Product & Features
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor is a self-contained monitoring system with built-in sensors and cellular connectivity (Cat 1 LTE 4G) for continuous remote oversight of your boat.
The system monitors key conditions such as battery voltage, bilge activity, bilge water levels, movement (geofence), and impacts, and sends real-time SMS alerts when something changes.
All data and system status can be viewed through the Sensar Marine mobile app, providing a complete picture of your boat’s condition at any time.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor continuously tracks your boat’s location 24/7, providing always-on visibility and security. The system remains active even if the boat’s main battery is disconnected, using its internal backup battery to continue monitoring and reporting position.
If the boat is moved unexpectedly—whether due to theft, tampering, or events like a storm breaking a mooring—you will receive immediate SMS alerts. This makes Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor function like a “LoJack for your boat,” helping support rapid response and recovery.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor delivers immediate, reliable alerts that help boat owners prevent problems before they become costly damage. By notifying you of issues like low battery, rising water, unexpected movement, or impacts, the system allows you to take action quickly—even when you’re not at the boat.
Alerts are sent via SMS/text message, ensuring they are received in real time without relying on a mobile app. Alerts can also be sent to multiple recipients, including people who do not have the app installed, making it easy to keep owners, family members, or crew informed. This makes the system dependable for unattended boats, where early awareness is critical.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor is designed for always-on, unattended boat monitoring without the limitations of WiFi, app-only alerts, or battery-powered systems.
Engineered for efficient, low-power operation, the system delivers reliable long-term monitoring without damaging the boat's batteries.
It uses built-in Cat 1 LTE (4G) connectivity for broad real-world coverage, sends alerts via SMS/text message for immediate reliability, and continuously tracks your boat’s location—even if the main battery is disconnected.
Proven in the harsh North Sea, Sensar Marine offers a 5-year warranty and provides dependable protection of your boat, year over year.
Yes. SmartBoat One was the original name of Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor. The product has since been renamed, but the underlying technology, reliability, and core functionality remain the same.
All current systems, documentation, and subscriptions are now branded as Sensar Marine Boat Monitor.
Connectivity
Sensar Marine is fully international and monitors boats across the world.
Our Boat Monitor’s hardware and built-in SIM is using the same technology as global cellular phones for the most universal and worldwide connectivity. We do not use NB-IoT or M1 modems as they are not supported globally.
However, in a few locations even Sensar Marine devices may be unable to communicate due to certain local constraints, including restrictions on foreign IoT devices, political turmoil, armed conflict, natural disasters, or other such situations beyond our control.
Currently, there are only four countries in the world where Sensar Marine cannot provide long term cellular-based monitoring: Belize, China, Turkey and the Ukraine. Of course this list may change at any time. If you want to confirm service in any specific country or region, just reach out!
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor does not use your boat’s existing internet connection, onboard router, hotspot, or systems such as Starlink. The system includes built-in cellular connectivity (Cat 1 LTE 4G), allowing it to operate independently without relying on any onboard network.
This approach enables continuous 24/7 monitoring without depending on power-consuming onboard internet systems, helping preserve battery life while ensuring reliable alerts even when the boat is unattended.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor does not rely on WiFi. It uses built-in 4G cellular connectivity to send data and alerts, allowing it to operate independently of marina or onboard internet connections.
This means your boat is protected 24/7, not just in your marina but all the other places you might leave your boat unaccompanied.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor does not have roaming charges. The system includes built-in worldwide cellular connectivity (Cat 1 LTE 4G) as part of the subscription, so there is no need to manage SIM cards, data plans, or roaming fees.
This allows the system to operate seamlessly across different regions without additional charges or configuration.
When traveling offshore and out of cellular range, your Sensar Marine boat monitor will automatically store triplog and other data in it's memory. This information will be automatically uploaded to the cloud when you cruise back into cellular coverage.
For those customers who must be able to monitor a boat in realtime while it is far offshore, our Expansion Hub enables the connection of a dedicated satellite antenna.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor does not require WiFi or onboard internet. It uses built-in cellular connectivity to send data and alerts, designed for highly reliable operation and independent of onboard WiFi or marina networks.
Hardware
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor is designed for ultra-low power operation and is designed to have zero parasitic drain on the boat’s battery. The system has an internal battery that can monitor the boat and send alerts even if the main battery is disconnected or depleted for over four months.
This internal battery automatically charges when surplus power is available, e.g. the boat's engine is running or the boat is connected to shore power/solar.
If needed, the internal battery can operate the Boat Monitor for over four months.
The internal battery is covered by our five year warranty and doesn't need any maintenance.
It will automatically recharge when surplus power is available (your boat is in use, hooked up to shore power, etc.)
The Boat Monitor is shipped with an integrated global SIM card with worldwide cellular coverage.
This SIM card is managed by Sensar Marine cannot be user-replaced.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor transmits data at different intervals depending on system activity and monitoring mode. Under normal conditions, the system sends regular status updates throughout the day. When a significant event occurs—such as low battery, bilge activity, movement, or impact—the system immediately sends an alert via SMS/text message.
This event-driven approach ensures timely alerts when something changes, while minimizing unnecessary data transmission and preserving battery life.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor is engineered for ultra-low power consumption and does not drain the boat’s battery during normal operation. The system is designed to monitor the boat continuously while preserving battery health over extended periods.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor includes an internal backup battery that allows it to continue monitoring and sending alerts even if the boat’s main battery is disconnected or depleted.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor is compatible with standard 12V and 24V boat battery systems, including both lead-acid and lithium batteries.
The system continuously monitors battery voltage to provide accurate status and real-time alerts for low battery conditions.
No, in normal operation the system does not draw power form the boats batteries. Sensar Marine is powered by an internal battery for up to four months of operation, and atumotically charges every time the boat is in use, or when connected to shore power.
100% maintenance free!
Sensar Marine is designed to use the least possible power to send data. This allows it to operate the system stably for up to four months without external power supply.
Yes, the system has an integrated global SIM card that will automatically connect to the best 4G network nearby.
The SIM card cannot be changed/replaced as it is integrated directly into the services we provide through the app.
Sensors collect data measurements every second. If the values reach one of the alarm limits, the system sends you a notification immediately.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor supports multiple users, allowing owners, family members, crew, or service providers to access the system and stay informed.
Sensar Marine’s Boat Monitor can send SMS text alerts to multiple recipients, including individuals who do not have the app installed. This makes it easy to ensure the right people are notified immediately when something happens.
