Connectivity

Sensar Marine monitors boats worldwide.

Our Boat Monitor’s hardware and built-in SIM is using the same technology as global cellular phones for the most universal and worldwide connectivity.  We do not use NB-IoT or M1 modems as they are not supported globally.

However, in a few locations even Sensar Marine devices may be unable to communicate due to certain local constraints, including restrictions on foreign IoT devices, political turmoil, armed conflict, natural disasters, or other such situations beyond our control.

Currently, there are only four countries in the world where Sensar Marine cannot provide long term cellular-based monitoring: Belize, China, Turkey and the Ukraine.  Of course this list may change at any time. If you want to confirm service in any specific country or region, just reach out!

No, our boat monitor does not connect to a boat's existing internet.

Insted, it communicates through cellular services, as they are redundant, reliable, and widely available.

This means your boat is protected 24/7, not just during the times your boat's internet is up and running.

When travelling offshore, your Sensar Marine boat monitor will simply store data locally, and then automatically upload the information when you cruise back into cellular coverage.

Alternatively, our Expansion Hub enables the connection of a dedicated satellite antenna.

No. The main unit has an internal battery that can monitor the boat for up to four months. The internal battery is charged via the boat's battery when the engine is running or the boat is connected to shore power.

If needed, the internal battery can operate the Boat Monitor for up to four months.

The internal battery is covered by our five year warranty and doesn't need any maintenance.

It will automatically recharge when surplus power is available (your boat is in use, hooked up to shore power, etc.)

Yes. Integrated into the Boat Monitor is a global SIM card with global cellular coverage.

This SIM card is managed by Sensar Marine cannot be user-replaced.

The sensors measure once every second. If the values fall outside the set limits, the system sends an alarm, and you will receive a notification on your mobile phone.

Data transmission rates ranges from every minute to several times a day.

There are multiple modes for the system and it will automatically switch between them, depending on if your boat is in long term storage, at a dock, or in use.

If one of the sensors goes off in alarm, the system will send data immediately, regardless of whether the boat is in use or not.

Boat Monitor is designed to monitor 12 and 24 volt lead-acid or lithium batteries and will automatically adjust the alarm values to fit the battery voltage.

If a new owner is to take over the Boat Monitor system, the following must be done:
You must first "release" the device so that the new boat owner can add their boat. You must therefore delete your boat in the Sensar Marine app. You do this under "My boats" and press "Delete boat". Once the previous owner has deleted their boat in the app, the new owner can connect the device and create their user in the app.

If the new owner is to take over the Boat Monitor system, he or she must pair the device and create a new user account. The previous owner may then have to give the pairing code to the new owner (if you still have this card). The pairing code is also on the sticker on the back of the main unit itself.

The current subscription period will follow the device. The current agreement period will therefore be transferred to a new owner. The new owner must create their own user and enter payment information and the desired subscription solution ( The subscription choice is sent by e-mail to the customer when you have created your own user and connected it to the device). The new agreement period will then follow the new owner's subscription type.
